Centre clears air around fake news graphic, says no plan to impose nationwide lockdown

The center has issued an advisory for May month to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus pandemic.

The centre government has clarified that it has no plans to impose a nationwide lockdown and the states and UTs must adhere to the measures suggested by the health ministry in order to control the spread.

A fake news graphic saying nationwide lockdown from May 3 to 20 was going viral creating panic amongst the citizens. However, the centre government has ruled out lockdown and termed the information FAKE and BASELESS.

The center has issued an advisory for May month to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus pandemic. In the recently generated directive issued on Friday, the Center has ordered states and union territories to create local containment zones in districts to prevent the spread of the virus.

Under the new guidelines, the government has asked union territories and states to identify the districts with a 10 percent Covid19 infection rate or more than 60% bed occupancy rate in the last week. Any district meeting these standards will be turned into intensive and local containment zones.

The country has crossed the three million mark on April 29 and has reported 386,452 fresh covid cases in the last 24 hours and around 3,498 patients lost their lives to coronavirus.
