In next 3 days states will receive nearly 51 lakh Covid vaccine doses: Centre Govt

Health Ministry said that the centre has provided around 20,28,09,250 vaccine doses to states and UTs for free of cost.

On Sunday, the Union Health Ministry said, more than 1.84 crore Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs, the new segment containing around 51 lakh Covid vaccines would be soon received by the States within the next three days.

Sharing the statics, Health Ministry said that the centre has provided around 20,28,09,250 vaccine doses to states and UTs for free of cost. And according to the data (till 7 pm), the total consumption, along with wastage is 18,43,67,772 doses.

The ministry said, “More than 1.84 crore Covid vaccine doses are still available with the state and UTs to be administered. States with a negative balance are showing more consumption than vaccine supplied as they have not reconciled the vaccine they have supplied to Armed Forced.”

Vaccination drive is an integral component of the Government of India’s management of the pandemic. Therefore, the centre is providing free vaccination for the states and UTs to ramp up the vaccination process. 

On May 1, the government of India had commenced phase three of the vaccination drive for all the citizens of age 18-44. 

On Sunday morning, Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India also tweeted that the SII would increase the production of the Covid vaccine so that it may cater to the demand for the vaccine.
