The awaited festival of Chaitra Navratri has begun today, on 13 April, and will end on 22 April. It falls in the spring season, thus called Vasant Navratri too. The auspicious festival lasts for nine days, celebrating nine incarnations of Goddess Durga.

For these nine days, devotees fast for consecutive days and avoid several food ingredients according to family rituals. People often consider skipping onion, garlic, alcohol, and meat, etc, and have traditional foods like Aloo ki sabzi, Kuttu, and Singhara atta puri for fasting. However, eating the same two or three dishes for nine long days can be a little enervating.
