In the latest move to curb the spread of coronavirus in UT Chandigarh, congested markets will be allowed to open on an odd-even basis for six days from Saturday and the Sector 22 mobile market will be shut for six days. 

The new directions have been given by UT adviser Manoj Parida on Friday on the basis of recommendations of a committee headed by the finance secretary. Notably, the decisions will be reviewed weekly. 

Besides this, Sukhna Lake will continue to observe weekend closure and the Sub-divisional magistrates will coordinate with market associations for smooth functioning and strict enforcement of orders added Manoj Parida.

In the review meeting on Friday, UT administrator VP Singh Badnore directed all the three chiefs of medical institutions to take greater care of people with underlying conditions and ensure the fatalities are kept at the minimum. He directed PGI to start rapid antigen testing so that many people could be covered in a short span of time.
