Chhatrasal Stadium case: On-the-run Olympic wrestler Sushil Kumar arrested by Delhi Police

Last week, Delhi Police had announced a cash award of Rs 1 lakh for feedback on the celebrated wrestler who was absconding since May 4.

India's two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who was on the run for over a fortnight for alleged links with the murder of former international wrestler Sagar Dhankar, has been arrested this morning by Delhi Police.

Kumar was wanted by Delhi Police since last over 20 days and even Rs 1lakh was announced on information leading to his arrest in the case.

As per reports, Sushil has been arrested along with a co-accused from northwest Delhi's Mundka, police officials said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P S Kushwah informed that a team of special cell led by two inspectors Shivkumar and Karambir, and supervised by ACP Attar Singh, following a tip-off, arrested Sushil Kumar and Ajay from Mundka area of Delhi today morning.

According to Police, on May 4, two groups of wrestlers clashed with each other at Chhatrasal Stadium leading to the death of 23-year-old Dhankar due to injuries he sustained during the brawl.

Meanwhile, last night there were reports that Sushil Kumar was arrested near Jalandhar by Punjab Police. However, the Delhi police today claimed that he was arrested near Delhi.
