Chhattisgarh: Government School Teacher thrashes students for fasting on Janmashtami, suspended

A case of a teacher has come to light about her objectionable behavior toward Lord Krishna and beating up students those fasting on Janmashtami festival. Let us share that this incident was reported from a government school in Chhattisgarh. The case pertains to a middle school in Bundapara village under Kondagaon district, about 200 kilometers from the capital Raipur. According to media reports, the accused teacher Charan Makam has been suspended after an initial inquiry.

 

The village panchayat and local villagers had complained that Markam had allegedly thrashed some students of Classes 7 and 8 in the school on Tuesday for observing fast on Janmashtami and also made objectionable comments against Lord Krishna, he said.

 

The villagers had submitted audio and video evidence in support of their allegations, Meena said.

 

Subsequently, a government official was sent to conduct an inquiry and based on his report, the teacher was suspended with immediate effect, he said.

 

A report in this regard has been forwarded to police for further action the matter, the collector added.

 

The suspension order stated, “Hurting religious sentiments and spreading hatred in the society comes under the category of serious misconduct.

 

The authorities said that the actions of the accused teacher were in violation of the Chhattisgarh Civil Service Rules 1965 which led to his suspension. The Kondagaon police said that a case was not yet registered against the Teacher. The police said ‘We have got a report from the district administration that a case has not been registered yet but required actions would be taken after a proper investigation’.

Besides, a counter complaint has been received from the Sarva Adivasi Samaj, an association of tribal communities, claiming the teacher was manhandled by locals," a senior police official said and assured necessary action.
