In response to the ongoing severe heatwave across Punjab, 13 major electronics markets in Jalandhar will remain closed for four days, from June 26 to June 29, 2025. The decision, announced by Baljit Singh Ahluwalia and detailed in a letter from the association, was taken jointly by representatives from all 13 market associations.
The closures are part of a coordinated summer vacation move, with association officials including Harminder Pal Bhasin, Lajpat Rai Mehta, Sarabjit Anand, Harpreet Lovely, Bhupinder Lucky, Surinder Singh, Jaspal Flora, Neeta Murgai, Balbir Singh, Rocky Manchanda, Sandeep Kumar, Sarabjit Makkar, Yugesh Kumar, and Arvinder Singh participating in the decision.
Customers are advised to purchase any essential electronics or household items ahead of the holiday period, as other markets in the city may also observe closures during these dates. The move aims to protect shopkeepers and workers from the extreme temperatures currently impacting the region.
