Farmers have begun marching from Mohali to Chandigarh under the leadership of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM). On foot, farmers are making their way to Chandigarh. The first barricade erected by Mohali Police has been breached. The Mohali police, however, halted them at the second roadblock. Some young farmers are set on moving to Chandigarh. They were halted by peasant leaders.

Farmers then sat on a dharna there. Farmers were called to a meeting with CM Mann earlier in the day. He has now left for Delhi instead of meeting with the farmers. According to the authorities, his trip to Delhi was planned ahead of time. The farmers refuse to speak with the officers.

Farmers say that they will sit here with a strong front until the government talks. The Chandigarh Police has barricaded the border next to Mohali to prevent farmers from entering Chandigarh. No one with a tractor-trolley will be allowed to enter Chandigarh.

Farmers have congregated at Mohali's Gurdwara Amb Sahib. They have also taken rations from home to establish a concrete front in Chandigarh. At the same time, the government had previously invited the farmers for negotiations, scared of their performance, but this meeting has already been canceled.

Farmers' representatives said that because CM Bhagwant Mann did not accept their reasonable demands, the farmers will launch a major protest against the AAP government. Farmers from all across Punjab gathered in Mohali today at Gurdwara Amb Sahib. In the afternoon, they headed for Chandigarh.

Farmers have been urged not to sow paddy together by the Punjab government this season. Paddy will be planted on the 18, 20, and 22nd of June in 6-6 districts, and on the 24th of June in the remaining 5 districts. To solve the electrical shortfall, the administration adopted this action. It is being opposed by farmers. According to them, it is the government's responsibility to ensure that farmers have enough electricity to sow paddy. Farmers also want Rs 500 per acre in wheat compensation.
