In a major drive against Chinese String/ China Dor, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharam has recovered 110 gattu of China dor within last week.

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that on the pious festival of Makar Sankranti, there is a popular tradition of kite flying due to which use of sharp and hazardous kite strings, commonly known as Chinese String or China Dor/Dor enhances. However, he said that this dor has been banned by the government of Punjab due to safety concerns adding that Commissionerate Police Jalandhar is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to prevent the sale of illegal kite strings. Mr Swapan Sharma said that the Police is conducting regular inspections to check the sale of these strings.

The Commissioner of Police said that to further effectively keep a check on the practice of selling this dor, a major drive was launched ahead of the festival. He further said that the use of drone surveillance, Commissionerate Police Jalandhar is able to easily identify and track down those engaging in such activities. Mr
Swapan Sharma said that during the drive, the drone technology proved to be an effective tool in enforcing the law and ensuring the safety of the public.

The Commissioner of Police said that during the last week two FIRs have already been registered after recovering 110 gattu of Chinese dor. He said that FIR 02 dated 04-01-2024 u/s 188 IPC was lodged at PS Rama Mandi Jalandhar after recovery of 100 Gattu China Dor adding that FIR 25 dated 12-01-2024 u/s 188 IPC was registered at PS Rama Mandi Jalandhar and 10 Gattu China Dor were recovered. Mr Swapan Sharma said that the drive will be further intensified in the coming days and strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the law.
