Coronavirus Updates: With 38,310 cases, India reports lowest COVID-19 count in months

Globally, coronavirus cases stand at 47,284,293, with 33,982,192 recoveries and as many as 1,210,378 people have died so far. The US, the worst-hit country, has 9,554,646 cases, and 236,880 have died from the infection. It is followed by India, which has 8,267,623 cases, Brazil - 5,554,206 and Russia - 1,655,038.

COVID19 Coronavirus Pandemic

The number of new coronavirus cases reported today is 38,310 which is another lowest in months, while 490 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry on Tuesday. The country’s total COVID-19 tally has increased to over 8.26 million. The number of active cases of the infection cases also dropped to 541,405 from 561,908 on Monday morning, according to the data. 

The health ministry on Monday said, “Active Cases comprise only 6.83% of the total positive cases of the country. In a span of just two months, the percentage of active cases have reduced more than 3 times. On 3rd September, the percentage of active cases was 21.16%.”

India on Monday reported 45,321 confirmed cases and 80% of the new cases were from recorded in 10 states and cases in Kerala mounted to first place with 7,025 new cases while Delhi and Maharashtra, both reported more than 5,000 daily new infections. 

A total of 7,603,121 recoveries were registered on Monday and Tuesday after 58,323 patients were discharged from hospitals. The total recoveries had passed 7.5 million on Monday after 53,285 patients were cured of the viral infection. 

COVID-19 latest updates: 

# Jharkhand on Tuesday reported 403 positive cases, taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 1,02,490 while one fresh fatality pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 886. 

# Telangana reported 1,536 new covid-19 cases pushing the total infection numbers to 2.42 lakh while three deaths pushed the state’s death toll to 1,351.

# On Monday Delhi recorded 4,001 fresh Covid-19 cases and a positivity rate of around 11 per cent.

#  According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) a total 11,17,89,350 samples tested for COVID-19 up to November 2. Of these, 10,46,247 samples were tested yesterday.

# Five most-affected states, as per the health ministry data

  •  Maharashtra - 16,87,784 cases
  •  Karnataka - 8,29,640 cases
  •  Andhra Pradesh - 8,27,882 cases
  •  Tamil Nadu - 7,29,507 cases
  •  Uttar Pradesh - 4,85,609 cases

# Coronavirus caseload surged to 2,06,982 after 465 more people tested positive for the virus on Monday, in Assam while one fresh casualty took the death toll to 932. As many as 785 patients recovered, pushing the number of recoveries in the state to 1,97,566. Currently, Assam has a total of 8,481 active COVID-19 cases.

# Chhattisgarh recorded 1,700 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the number of cases to 1,90,513 and 58 deaths took the death toll to 2,208 on Monday. Recoveries in the state increased to 1,66,391. The state now has 21,914 active cases.

#  On Monday, Nagaland reported 21 new COVID-19 cases, while 152 more patients recovered. The state also recorded three deaths while it has 9,069 confirmed COVID cases.
