Coronavirus Updates: India’s national recovery rate improves to 92.09 per cent; 46,253 new COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours

Globally, 47,807,240 people have been infected by coronavirus disease, 34,312,643 have recovered, while 1,218,982 have died so far. The US is the worst-hit country with 9,684,892 cases, and 238,542 have died from the disease there. It is followed by India, which has 8,313,876 cases, Brazil - 5,567,126 and Russia - 1,673,686.

COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic

India on Wednesday, registered 46,253 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours which is a 20 per cent jump in the number of cases compared to what was recorded on Tuesday which was 38,310. As many as 53,357 patients have been cured in the last 24 hours. The total active COVID-19 cases recorded on Wednesday is 5,33,787 while the total tally is rose to  83,13,877.  About 12,09,609 samples for the virus have been tested on November 3.

According to health ministry data, from the last seven weeks, India has witnessed a downward trend in the average daily new cases. The daily new COVID-19 cases recorded between September 16 and 22, used to be above 90,346, which gradually came down to around 60,000 between October 14 and 20. Between October 28 and November 30, the average cases count has come down to 45,884.

The average daily new deaths too have shown a declining trend in the last seven weeks. Health ministry data reports that the average daily deaths reported in India used to be 1,165 between September 16 and 22. Between October 14 and 20, it came down to 763 and 513 deaths between October 28 and November 3.

The states have been suggested to proactively seek Test-Track-Trace and Treat strategy during the festive season.

Four states - Delhi, Kerala, West Bengal and Manipur have reportedly shown an increase in the number of COVID-19 active cases which is opposite to the national trend that is seeing a declining trend. 

Active number of coronavirus cases reported in states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh has been decreasing in the last month. 


COVID-19 latest development: 

# Telangana reported 1,637 new Covid-19 cases, 1,273 recoveries, and 6 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the total number of cases to 2,44,143 including 2,24,686 recoveries, 1,357 deaths, and 18,100 active cases. 

# According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total sample tested up to 3rd November is 11,29,98,959 including 12,09,609 samples tested yesterday.


# Total confirmed, recovered cases in India as of November 4: 

  •  Confirmed cases: 83,13,876
  •  Recovered: 76,56,478 (92.09%)
  •  Active cases: 5,33,787 (6.42%)
  •  Deaths: 1,23,611 (1.49%)

# Ladak recorded 84 new positive cases and 30 recoveries yesterday; the total number of positive cases in the UT is 6,441. 

# Mizoram records 101 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state tally to 2,893. The number of active cases is at 516 while 2,376 people have been discharged so far. Till date, one death has been reported in the state.

# On Wednesday Odisha recorded 1,474 new infection cases, taking the tally to 2,95,889. 12 fresh fatalities pushed the coronavirus death toll to 1,364. Odisha now has 13,919 active cases, while 2,80,553 people have been cured. The positivity rate in the state currently stands at 6.25 per cent, he added.

# Four COVID related deaths in Arunachal Pradesh has pushed the toll to 42, while the caseload increased to 15,083 with 85 people testing positive for the infection on Wednesday. The positivity rate in the state stands at 11.38 per cent and the death rate at 0.27 per cent. Arunachal Pradesh currently has 1,674 active cases, while 13,367 have been cured of the virus. The state has 88.62 per cent recovery rate. 

# Jharkhand's Covid-19 tally climbed to 1,02,887 after 397 more people tested positive for the infection, on Wednesday. The death toll surged to 891 after five more patients succumbed to the deadly infection. 

# Kerala has the highest number of new cases at 6,862, followed by Delhi with 6,725.


#  Five most-affected states in India, according to the health ministry: 

  •  Maharashtra – 1,687,784 cases
  •  Karnataka - 829,640 cases
  •  Andhra Pradesh - 827,882 cases
  •  Tamil Nadu - 729,507 cases
  •  Uttar Pradesh - 485,609 cases

# Gujarat on Tuesday reported 954 new coronavirus cases, which took the tally to 1,75,633. The state's COVID-19 death toll mounted to 3,734 after it reported six new deaths. 1,197 patients were discharged. The number of recovered cases in the state rose to 1,59,448.

# As per BMC data, Mumbai's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,59,860 with the addition of 746 new cases; 15 fresh deaths took the toll to 10,320. 

# Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday recorded 2,849 new Covid-19 cases which pushed the tally to 8,30,731. The death toll increased to 6,734 with 15 more deaths. 

# Coronavirus cases in Bihar increased to 2,18,963 with 846 fresh cases, while seven more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,108 on Tuesday.
