Covid-19 grim: One-day lockdown imposed in Chandigarh on April 21

Amid the spike in the coronavirus cases in the union territory, the Chandigarh administration on Monday has announced to enforce a one-day lockdown in the Tricity on April 21 (Wednesday).

April 21 also marks the pious occasion of Ram Navami and the decision has been taken to prevent the massive gathering amid the second wave of the pandemic. 

According to an official spokesperson, the decision has been taken by UT Chandigarh Administrator V P Singh Badnore.

Earlier, the Punjab government had announced to shut Mohali for a day on Wednesday to avoid a large number of gathering. 

Prior to this, UT Administrator had already put weekend lockdown in place which began on Saturday, April 16 at 10 pm and concluded on Monday morning at 5 am. During the weekend lockdown, the administration has only permitted the essential activities to ply while all the non-essential services were shut.
