
In a major crackdown against the narco-terrorism inPunjab, the Border Security Force troops from January 2021 to till date haveseized 158.638 kgs of heroin from different Punjab Borders, while the number ofIndian border crosser and Pakistan National apprehended are three and eleven,respectively.
Besides, the Pakistan intruders killed so far during suchoperations are two and different types of weapons and magazine seized were sixand eight, respectively.
Also, ammunition of various calibres seized was 146,while two Pakistan Mobile phones were recovered.
Meanwhile, continuing their crackdown against smugglersand peddlers, the vigilant troops of Border Security Force on Saturday again foiledthe attempt of anti-international elements to push consignment of contrabanditems into India.
BSF seized about 500gms of heroin during a searchoperation on the bank of River Ravi in Gurdaspur Sector. The smugglers reportedlyto dodge the soldiers had filled the drug in a cold drink bottle found tiedwith a bamboo stick in a field. The seizure was made by the 73 Battalion BSFforce.
In another such incident, Border Security Force troopsseized four packets weighing approx 2,430 kgs of heroin from Abohar. Thisseizure was made by the 124 Battalion BSF force.
In addition, since last year, the border areas of Punjabare on high alert because the Punjab has a 543 Km border with Pakistan anddrones are usually seen inside Indian territory.
In February 2021, drones were seen at BSF's Pahadipurpost which falls near Bamiyal, Chontra post which falls in Dinanagar area andSadavali post that falls in Dera Baba area.
Even the Chief Minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh hadearlier warned and said the threat from Pakistan could not be undermined… Wehave to work to resolve this issue before things go out of hand, he said,adding that he knew how many drones, arms and ammunition were being smuggledinto the state from across the border.
