A new gang-related tension is brewing in Punjab after the Bambiha gang shot dead the mother of a gangster, Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. The mother of notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and his bodyguard were shot dead outside their house in Batala's Urban Estate late Thursday night. As per the information received, Harjeet Kaur (52) and Karanvir Singh (29), were inside their car around 9:07 PM when two assailants started firing from the driver’s side. Karanvir, who was behind the wheel, died on the spot. Jaggu Bhagwanpuria's mother, Harjeet, sitting in the passenger seat, sustained six bullet wounds and was rushed to the civil hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
On June 27, the Bambiha gang claimed responsibility for the attack through social media posts made by its members Doni Bal, Billa Manga, Prabh Dasuwal, and Kaushal Chaudhary. They claimed the real target was Karanvir Singh, who allegedly managed fugitive associates and weapons for Jaggu. The Bambiha group stated the killing was revenge for the death of their associate, Gore Bariar, and issued a warning that any further attacks on their members would be met with retaliation.
However, in the same post, the Bambiha gang expressed regret over the accidental killing of Jaggu’s mother, claiming she was not their intended target and offering an apology for the loss.
Jaggu Bhagwanpuria reacts to his mother's death
Jaggu Bhagwanpuria's social media has surfaced, in which he has reacted to the killing of his mother. Jaggu condemned the attack and accused rivals of crossing a red line. The statement declared, "Our fight is with each other, not with each other’s families. Mothers and innocent people are not part of this war. We’ve never harmed civilians; those we've killed were criminals like us. You’ve crossed the line now."
The post further emphasized that Jaggu’s mother endured hardship for him and her loss is deeply personal. The group warned rivals not to label them as wrongdoers, stating, “Now, the limit has been crossed. Let Waheguru decide what comes next.”
Jaggu's social media post reads, "(Translated version) She had nothing to do with our enmities. Our mother never interfered in any of our matters. She always stayed with the family and lived a quiet, religious life. She never even uttered a word against anyone. She would sit alone at home, listen to hymns and keep herself away from all negativity. She was innocent and never harmed anyone in her life. We never attack anyone’s family, nor do we support anyone doing so. My mother never called anyone, never threatened anyone, never interfered. Even though she lived through great hardships, she never spoke negatively about anyone. We are quiet today only out of respect for our mother. Tomorrow, time will speak for itself. We will respond at the right time."
