A day after former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said that no meeting was scheduled between him and Sidhu, the cricketer-turned-politician who for a quite long time has raised a banner of revolt against Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, revealed that he had a long meeting with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Navjot Sidhu took to twitter on Wednesday and shared a picture of him with Priyanka Gandhi, captioning, “Had a long meeting with Priyanka Gandhi.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Rahul Gandhi stepped outside his house to talk to reporters but when he was asked he denied any such meeting. He said, "No meeting." It was expected that Rahul will give a peace formula to the former cricketer on his ongoing tussle with Amarinder Singh but there was no meeting.

Sources informed that the meeting between Sidhu and Priyanka lasted for nearly three hours and they discussed various Punjab issues.

Meanwhile, Navjot Sidhu’s secret meeting with Priyanka has triggered a lot of speculations and it also signifies there are differences in Gandhi family as one side Rahul was saying ‘no meeting’ and on the other hand Priyanka meeting him.

Earlier, the AICC panel in a meeting with Punjab CM had reconciled to induct the former politician back, however; Sidhu’s latest interview has stirred another controversy as he repeatedly targeted CM for sidelining him in the party.

Enraged over the remarks, Capt in his last meeting with the panel had made it clear “Not comfortable as a CM to work with Sidhu as a State Unit President.”

It is to be noted here, Sidhu has always received the backing of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the party affairs. Also, it is expected Rahul’s meeting with Sidhu could be scheduled any time soon or can take place even today.

Besides, last week Punjab Congress president Sunil Jhakhar, finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and MPs Pratap Singh Bajwa and Manish Tewari had met Rahul Gandhi and apprised him of the situation after infighting escalated in the state Congress.

Sunil Jakhar said after the meeting, "Hope that the current situation will be resolved and some wrong people are advising the chief minister over the decision on jobs to kin of MLAs."

He said the issue of Sidhu is under discussion by the party leadership. While another bete noire of the Punjab CM, Pratap Singh Bajwa also met Rahul Gandhi and said that he discussed the ground reality and current political situation in the state.
