DC Ludhiana makes an emotive appeal on why Ludhianavis lagging in vaccination

He said If all above 45 get vaccine soon in the district, we will not face the third wave of pandemic

Making an emotional appeal to Ludhianavis in his weekly Facebook live session, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that Punjabi always have been remained at the forefront in protecting the borders of the country but this time in the battle against Covid, they are not playing their role actively, thus the enemy in form of virus spreading unprecedentedly.

Expressing concern over the Ludhianavis lagging in the Covid vaccination drive, Deputy Commissioner said that it is a really serious matter and shows we all are not contributing to the war against the Covid.

He said that 1221 residents of the district have succumbed to the virus so far and despite this, people are not showing seriousness towards vaccines that are completely safe and effective.

Deputy Commissioner said if we would not support the vaccination program wholeheartedly, we may continue to face many more waves of the pandemic. He said if all district’s residents above the age of 45 take the vaccine, it is sure that we would not have to counter another wave and everything would be normal like earlier.

He said people must not believe in any kind of rumour or myths about immunization drive and must embrace the vaccine which will ensure protection from the infectious deadly disease.

He said that the vaccine is being administrated free of cost in all government health institutions besides it is being offered at Rs 250 in private hospitals.

He said that as the district has been witnessing a steep hike in the Covid cases again, the people should not lower guard at any cost and strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the government and health department to contain the pandemic.

He mentioned that the careless attitude of some people towards wearing masks and maintain social distancing has led to a surge and people must shun complacency.

Deputy Commissioner also said the district administration has made elaborate arrangements in the grain markets and assured peasantry that every single grain would be procured and payment would be made within the stipulated timeframe.
