
Makingan emotional appeal to Ludhianavis in his weekly Facebook live session, DeputyCommissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that Punjabi always have been remainedat the forefront in protecting the borders of the country but this time in thebattle against Covid, they are not playing their role actively, thus the enemyin form of virus spreading unprecedentedly.
Expressingconcern over the Ludhianavis lagging in the Covid vaccination drive, DeputyCommissioner said that it is a really serious matter and shows we all are notcontributing to the war against the Covid.
Hesaid that 1221 residents of the district have succumbed to the virus so far anddespite this, people are not showing seriousness towards vaccines that arecompletely safe and effective.
DeputyCommissioner said if we would not support the vaccination programwholeheartedly, we may continue to face many more waves of the pandemic. Hesaid if all district’s residents above the age of 45 take the vaccine, it issure that we would not have to counter another wave and everything would benormal like earlier.
Hesaid people must not believe in any kind of rumour or myths about immunizationdrive and must embrace the vaccine which will ensure protection from theinfectious deadly disease.
Hesaid that the vaccine is being administrated free of cost in all governmenthealth institutions besides it is being offered at Rs 250 in private hospitals.
Hesaid that as the district has been witnessing a steep hike in the Covid casesagain, the people should not lower guard at any cost and strictly adhere to theguidelines issued by the government and health department to contain thepandemic.
Hementioned that the careless attitude of some people towards wearing masks andmaintain social distancing has led to a surge and people must shun complacency.
DeputyCommissioner also said the district administration has made elaboratearrangements in the grain markets and assured peasantry that every single grainwould be procured and payment would be made within the stipulated timeframe.
