DC has finally dropped the curtains on the new Batman trailer that was released on Saturday during the DC FanDome virtual fan event. The action-packed trailer is the complete one that starts Robert Pattinson in the iconic lead role and has been directed by Matt Reeves.

The 2 minutes 38 seconds long trailer ups the 'darkness' quotient of the film with its violence and the Cape Crusaders ominous dialogue, “It's not just a call… It's a warning.”

In the trailer we see that The Riddler has been arrested, whose face is not shown.  According to sources, it has been confirmed that the role has been portrayed by Paul Dano. We also see other characters like Catwoman played by Zoe Kravitz and Alfred Pennyworth played by Andy Serkis.

Since its release, the trailer has been garnering applause from worldwide audiences and netizens are seemingly impressed by Pattinson's portrayal of the iconic Batman character.

Reeves had also co-written the screenplay of The Batman along with Peter Craig and is producing it with Dylan Clark.

Warner Bros. Pictures in a statement said, “The director's behind-the-scenes creative team included Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (“Dune,” “Lion”); Reeves' “Planet of the Apes” production designer, James Chinlund, and editor, William Hoy; editor Tyler Nelson (“Rememory”); and Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran (“1917,” “Little Women,” “Anna Karenina”).”

The iconic role of The Batman has been portrayed by legendary actors like Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, among others. Directors Christopher Nolan, Joel Schumacher and Zack Snyder have directed movies based on the character in the past.

The movie will be officially released in theatres on March 4, 2022, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros.

The DC FanDome event included glimpses of some of its titles like Black Adam, Shazam, Fury of the Gods, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Peacemaker.

Meanwhile, DC fans are raving about how Pattinson has aced the character of Batman. Taking to Twitter, fans are sharing their favourite shots from the trailer and are seen lauding the actor’s performance. Memes are being shared since the trailer has dropped, bringing Glee's Sue Sylvester and Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly into the mix.

‘Injected into their veins', wrote a fan. Another tweeted, “#TheBatman looks like a masterpiece. Matt Reeves seems to have crafted a version of the caped crusader that’s ripped straight out of the graphic novels - the perfect way to adapt Batman. This film is going to be special & made the long wait a today’s DC FanDome worth it. WOW.”
