In a historic development, Australia's premier educational institute, Deakin University on January 10, 2024, opened its first foreign campus in India's newly built GIFT City in Gujarat. In an attempt to boost educational ties between the two countries, Deakin University's first international branch campus has been unveiled in Gandhinagar's GIFT City. Deakin University's GIFT City campus was unveiled after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Australian college delegation, and spoke about enhancing collaborations between government and academic institutions pertaining to cyber security. According to the Deakin University GIFT City campus' official website, 'the Deakin University GIFT City Campus provides a welcoming and safe teaching and learning environment with accessible facilities that are shaped to create the best student experience. The GIFT City Campus offers future-ready Deakin postgraduate courses aligned with local employment needs. Students will receive the same standard of higher education in GIFT City as in Australia, with academic standards aligned with Australia’s national accreditation body, the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).' 

 

Talking about how to take admission in Deakin University GIFT City campus, the Australian college has not started their process as of now. However, students who are keen to pursue their post-graduate or masters degree from Deakin University GIFT City campus, they can mail the collage at giftcity@deakin.edu.au.

 

It is pertinent to mention here that this opening of foreign universities’ campuses in India is in sync with the National Education Policy 2020 vision of internalization of Indian higher education by the Modi Government.
