In a massive crackdown from Delhi Police special cell early morning, one of the prime accused in the Red Fort violence case was arrested. Deep is accused of inciting the violence at Delhi's Red Fort on Republic Day when the protesting farmers had organized a tractor rally. Allegations are being leveled against Sidhu that he did Facebook live during the flag hoisting by farmers at Red fort. Punjabi singer Deep Sidhu is accused of planting a religious flag on the Red Fort and inciting people. The Delhi Police placed a reward of one lakh rupees on it.
Going by the reports of Delhi Police quoted by news agency ANI, Deep Sidhu was arrested from the Zirakpur area between Chandigarh and Ambala. Delhi Police sources also revealed that Deep was in contact with a woman friend and actor who lives in California. He used to make videos and send them to her, and she used to upload them on his Facebook account.
A few days ago, a video of Deep Sidhu came out in which he threatened the farmer leaders. He had said that peasant leaders are agitating not for saving land, but for doing politics.
Interestingly, Deep Sidhu's arrest came one day after PM Modi's speech at the Rajya Sabha. Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut had slammed the government over the non-arrest of Deep Sidhu and he also highlighted the connection of the Punjabi singer in politics.
