Former Congressman and veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad floated its new political party today month after parting ways with Congress. A new political outfit from Azad has been named the ‘Democratic Azad Party alongside releasing a flag as well.

While addressing the media on the occasion Azad said, “I wish to express my gratitude to the local and national media. We will have independent thinking and ideology and it will be a democratic party."

The event was taking place in Jammu where he unveiled his new political outfit. He went on to say, "Around 1,500 names for my new party were sent to us, in Urdu, Sanskrit. The mix of Hindi & Urdu is 'Hindustani'. We want the name to be democratic, peaceful, and independent.”

Now with Azad’s new party in the picture of politics in the valley, a whole new set of political scenarios seems to unfold ahead. Alongside two regional big shots in the form of Abdullah’s National Conference and Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party, Altaf Bukhari’s newly launched party after the abrogation of Article 370 holds the central place.

With BJP and Congress looking to consolidate their position once the election is announced in the valley, it will be interesting to see how these parties team up to bring a new option for the people of J&K.

Widespread resentment against the parties from the people of the valley owing to the poor pace of development and how well they project the common soul of reinstating statehood will be a key to all the parties vying for their position in the valley.

Cong high command thought Rajasthan is Punjab but checkmated

Any possible coalition can be framed up to amplify their chance since things don’t seem all well for any party to establish a clear-cut majority in the election scheduled to take place in the valley.

Azad has made this explicitly clear before the official launch of his party that their politics won’t be based upon religion and caste-based, a point which can only get a clear picture in the due passage of time.

Azad has also pitched his tone for restoring statehood earlier as well. He said, "We haven't consulted any other party for floating a new party. My party will have Gandhiji's ideology.

But, how long will this exists in the frame will be a key to watch, whether it is meant to derail Congress from the course through BJP’s backend support or the veteran leader is eyeing something big, will be an aspect that political pundits and close watchers of the politics will be keen on looking ahead.
