Following the introduction of domestic air services from Adampur Civil Airport to Mumbai, the government, along with the administration, is now accelerating efforts to obtain direct flights to New Delhi in order to further improve air connectivity for the area.
Welcoming the residents of Doaba, particularly those in Jalandhar, to the inaugural Mumbai flight on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that this service would be a game-changer for Punjab's NRI and industrial city. He pointed out that now passengers can easily reach domestic and international destinations through connecting flights like Amsterdam, Goa, and Chennai via Mumbai, providing improved connectivity to the people.
Dr. Aggarwal informed us that talks with airline operators have started for commencing flights from Adampur to New Delhi, which would further facilitate the traveling needs of the whole Doaba region, anticipating positive results in the upcoming days. He appealed to NRIs and the business community to take maximum benefit of the Mumbai flight for their traveling needs. He further added that different measures will be taken to make travel by road to the Adampur Airport convenient with the support of the Government of Punjab.
Representing the Jalandhar administration, SDM Adampur Vivek Modi made a visit to Adampur Civil Airport on Wednesday to commemorate the arrival of the first flight to Mumbai, hoping that the new connectivity would greatly simplify travel for local residents and provide a boost to economic development in the area.
