With 200 players participating in 32 events in six days,the district badminton championship today marked the culmination at RaijadaHansraj Stadium.

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori being the chief guestof the closing ceremony distributed prizes among the winners of differentcategories. He lauded the efforts of district badminton association fororganizing such a mega event while strictly adhering to the Covid-19 safetyguidelines. He mentioned that the society was offering platform to the budding badmintonplayers besides promoting the game in the district. He called upon youths tomust adopt some sport in their lives as it would enable them to be physicallyfit besides infusing a sense of confidence in them. He also explained about hispersonal attachment with the sports.

Divulging more information, Member of the Interim Committeeand Former national player Ritin Khanna said that it was as many as 387 entrieswere received for the tournament with the participation of 200 players in sixdays. He further added that around 32 events were organized during thechampionship and players participated in different categories ranging fromunder-11 to veteran category of playets aged above 50.

Cash prizes worth Rs. 1.50 Lakh was distributed among thewinners besides many other consolation prizes.

Khanna said that due to Covid pandemic, spectators were notallowed to enter the stadium and live streaming of all matches  through social media was ensured for thefollowers.

Prominent among others present on the occasion includeHarpreet Singh, Anil Bhatti and Rakesh Khanna.
