Acknowledgingthe efforts being made by the School Education Department in converting the govtschools in the state into ‘Smart School’, three philanthropists belonging toNawanshahr district have donated two trolleys of interlock tiles and 40trolleys of earthfilling to Government High School Rakkeran Dhahan.

Thephilanthropists namely Dr Kulwinder Mann, Senior Medical Officer (SMOBalachaur) and Kashmir Singh, a retired IFS officer and native of RakkeranDhahan village, donated one trolley each of interlock tiles, while Dr Gian KaurRakker fondly called Bhuaji in the region donated 40 trolleys of earth filling.

Asper information, apart from philanthropists, the school teachers and theheadmistress Minakshi Bhalla also contributed their bit by donating otherrequired construction material. “Together we can do this”, said MinakshiBhalla, while adding that the school at present is undergoing major changes andin the time to come, the school will be one of the best schools in the regionin terms of infrastructural facilities.

Meanwhile,Prem Rakker, a retired teacher and former state president Govt Teachers Unionas well as member of Rakkeran Dhahan Welfare Society, Baldev Raj Shashtri, amember of School Management Committee and Minakshi Bhalla, Headmistress of theSchool, lauded the gesture of the philanthropists for their consistent support forsprucing up the infrastructural facilities as well converting it into smartschool.

MinakshiBhalla further said that the philanthropists in the region have been playing animportant role in the socio-economic development of the state, besides ensuringthe well-being of people, especially the younger generation who are the futureof Punjab.

Shesaid this contribution would enable the school to ensure the overallpersonality development of children.

Divulgingmore details, Minakshi said, “When I joined this school as headmistress about ayear ago, it felt as if the school belonged to the 90's. I then decided I needto change the look of the school and convert it into a School of today”.

Sheadded, “Through the support of the teachers and school management committee andof course the school education department, we convinced the NRIs,philanthropists and among other residents of the village to support in any waypossible, so that the children of the area has access to latest technology andquality education here itself”.
