The police team in Jalandhar, Punjab was attacked by a group of drug addicts during a raid in Village Patara. According to reports, the police team suffered several injuries in the incident. The raid was being carried out by under the leadership of Patara police station SHO Baljit Singh Hundal. Police team of the SHO, Senior Constable Jasveer Singh and constable Barjinderpal suffered injuries.
Giving information to the media, SHO Baljit Singh Hundal informed that the team was acting on a tip-off that a couple of youth were taking drugs in the house of Tarlok Lal alias Harman Sandhu in village Patara. There, when the police team knocked on the door, Harman charged at the police with a sword with the intent to kill. During this, Senior Constable Jasveer Singh sustained injuries under his left eye, on the left side of his head, and on his left arm. The constable’s uniform was covered in blood following the injuries.
SHO Baljit Hundal further informed that the attackers did not just stop there. After being informed of this, accused Harmanjot Singh ran up the stairs and pelted the police team with bricks and stones. During this, head Constable Barjinderpal Singh was hit by one of the bricks on his face.
The accused then fled the scene through the rooftops. The injured police personnel have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The attackers have been identified as Tarlok Lal alias Harman Sandhu, Harmanjot Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Gurjit Singh alias Jita, Sandeep Kumar alias Shipa, Pargat Singh alias Sonu. The accused attackers are currently being traced and rounded-up by the police. Based on the statements of SI Gurdeep Singh, a case has been registered against the accused under section 307, 353, 186, 332, 148, 149 at Pathara police station (obstruction of police work and attacking police with intent to harm).
