A video from Chhattisgarh’s Durg showing three saints being brutally thrashed by a mob on the suspicion of being child lifters is rapidly going viral.
The incident occurred this afternoon in Charoda Basti of Bhilai 3 police station area when an agitated mob gathered in the region after rumours about three saints spread in the region levelling them as child lifters.
Durg SP Abhishek Pallava while briefing the media over the matter said that these saints were talking to children in the area in a suspicious manner which spread the rumours about the trio after which the mob lashed their anger upon the three saints.
He further said that the saints claim to be from Rajasthan, however, no proof of identity has been received from them. He appealed to the people to not take the law into their hands.
The visuals show saints appealing to the mob to spare them with folded hands, however, to no avail as they kept on thrashing them.

The crowd was somehow brought under control by the police that soon reached the spot after receiving the information about the incident.
Bhilai-3 Police Station in-charge reached the spot and took control of the situation by dismissing the crowd and later booked the people involved in the mob who assaulted the saint’s trio.
It is yet another incident from the series of incidents which have seen an assault of this sort on people over suspicion of child theft in Durg said city SP Pallava.
He went on to inform the media of due action taken by the police against the incident by imposing relevant sections of the IPC against those involved in beating up the saints.
