Five recipients received the MTV EMA Generation Change Awards for combating anti-LGBTQ+ policies. MTV held the awards in Hungary despite the country's anti-LGBTQ+ laws being passed in June, as a show of support for the LGBTQ+ community.
On behalf of the winners, Viktoria Radvanyi, a board member of Budapest Pride, Hungary's first feminist and anti-racist LGBTQ+ NGO, stepped on stage to accept the award.She asked the community to vote as a unit rather than being pushed back into the closet.
