Edu Secy exhorts teachers says ‘convert enrollment potentialities into actuality’

While lauding the education department officials, school heads and teachers for the relentless efforts being made by them to accelerate the enrollment drive, the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, exhorted them to exert their nerves for converting the enrollment potentialities into actuality.

Interacting virtually with the District Education Officers, Block Nodal Officers and School Heads, Krishan Kumar, said that the education department had launched a massive “Enrollment Campaign" to make the public aware about the changing scenario of government schools.

"The school teachers are using public address system of gurudwaras and other religious places, going door to door, distributing pamphlets, affixing flex hoardings, plying rickshaws / vans playing promotional songs, staging street plays at public places and setting up canopies at Mela sites to highlight the revolutionary improvement in infrastructure as well as quality education facilities”, he said.

Besides, he asked teachers to ensure the optimum use of print, electronic and social media to give a fillip to the enrollment drive.

He said that the department has started telecast of "Naviyan Pairhan" programme on DD Punjabi for the purpose. It is aired on every Saturday and Sunday. Moreover, several talented teachers, who have made promotional videos and skits, they have been uploading these on youtube/ facebook and sharing it on various whatsapp groups.

“The posters highlighting various quality education activities/good practices are also being prepared and shared in social media groups of students, parents, Sarpanches, SMCs etc”, he said while exhorting them to make micro planning like procuring lists along with phone numbers of target families in their respective localities so that they could be contacted repeatedly on phone, sensitising the parents about the facility of separate sections for the students aspiring to opt English medium and setting up "Admission Helpline" with dedicated Nodal Officer at school level.

The District Education Officers and School heads apprised the Education Secretary of the progress of the enrollment drive in their respective districts. While appreciating the innovative initiatives including holding of 'School Darshan' and 'Mashal March' programmes started by DEO(SE), Anju Gupta and Block Nodal officer, Rajinder Soni in Mukatsar district, Krishan Kumar exhorted the other districts to replicate these programmes to showcase the achievements of the government schools to the people.
