Electricity Issue: Powercom appeals to keep ACs off for 3 days

Punjab State Electricity Corporation Limited (POWERCOM) has appealed to government/public sector offices to keep AC closed for the next 3 days due to power crisis.

Punjab State Electricity Corporation Limited has taken this decision in view of the increase in the demand for electricity due to no chance of rain. Powercom Director Distribution D.S. Grewal has also instructed the employees of his office not to use electricity unnecessarily. The demand for electricity in Punjab has exceeded the record 14500 MW, due to which the above decision has been taken.



Due to the power crisis in Punjab, orders for restrictions have been issued for the industry. In the orders issued, it has been decided to impose restrictions for industrial consumers due to lack of rain. As per the decision taken General Industries L.S. And rolling mill consumers are getting electricity on Cat 2 feeder, one day a week will be closed. Similarly, the arc and induction furnaces receiving power from Cat 2 and 3 feeders will also remain closed for one day in a week. Induction fare is also 2.5 percent S.C.D. or 50 kW whichever is less, can be used. The week-long holiday will be from 8 am on July 1st to 8 am on July 2.


Powercom has issued these orders for the general public as the demand has increased to 14500 Mega Watts.

1. Don't keep Lights and other equipment on without a need. 

2. Don't use high power equipment for the next 3 days

3. Don't waste electricity.
