Multi-billionaire & X (formerly Twitter) boss Elon Musk has decided to lock horns with Brazil's judiciary. Brazilian Supreme Court has opened an inquiry into Tesla founder Elon Musk after he warned to reactivate banned accounts of Brazilians on X. Notably, the Brazilian Supreme Court had ordered to block a few accounts on X to which the social media had complied. However, Elon Musk recently posted on X that the restrictions had been lifted because the court order was unconstitutional. Not only this, Elon Musk demanded that Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes should "resign or be impeached". Now, the question arises what are the threats Elon Musk is facing for taking on the Brazilian Supreme Court? Below is everything you need to know

Elon Musk vs Brazil Supreme Court explained

Notably, Elon Musk has reactivated the banned accounts on X in the name of freedom of speech. However, if X fails to comply with the order, it will be fined 100,000 reais ($19,774; £15,670) a day. As per reports, Brazil Supreme Court judge Justice Moraes wrote that Elon Musk had launched a disinformation campaign against the Supreme Court.

X's Global Government Affairs did not reveal the list or names of accounts that were asked by the Brazilian Supreme Court to be banned. However, Elon Musk taking on Brazil stated that "X will publish everything demanded by [Moraes] and how those requests violate Brazilian law".

A report suggests that Brazilian banned X (Twitter) accounts are linked to far-right movements that posted content related to riots on 8 January last year when thousands of supporters of Brazil's former President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the country's Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Presidential Palace.

For the unversed, Justice Moraes is also investigating Bolsonaro and his supporters for their roles in an alleged attempted coup d'état.

X to be banned in Brazil?

Notably, X is also facing a potential ban in Brazil. Elon Musk took to X handle and stated that Brazilians can use VPNs if they are eager to access their X handle in the future. On his X, Musk wrote, "To ensure that you can still access the 𝕏 platform, download a virtual private network (VPN) app."

Musk in another tweet wrote, "These are the most draconian demands of any country on Earth!"

"Coming shortly, 𝕏 will publish everything demanded by @Alexandre and how those requests violate Brazilian law. This judge has brazenly and repeatedly betrayed the constitution and people of Brazil. He should resign or be impeached.Shame @Alexandre, shame," wrote Elon Musk in another tweet.
