Serum Institute of India's top scientist told NDTV that the efficacy of Covishield vaccine is enhanced if the gap between two doses is longer. Ideally, the gap between the two doses is 28 days but it can be increased for more efficient response.

Executive director at SII, Suresh Jadhav said that efficacy increased when the gap was increased after 28 days by a few more weeks.

Even if the second dose is taken faster, the efficiency is 70%, Jadhav told NDTV.

Dr Jadhav also advised that people who recovered from Covid-19 should take the vaccine because they can get infected again. He also cautioned against mixing up two vaccines citing different technology used to develop both the vaccines.
