The suo moto proceedings initiated to examine any"larger conspiracy" regarding the allegations of sexual harassmentagainst former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi have been closed by theSupreme Court on Thursday.

The case was closed by a bench of Justice Sanjay KishanKaul, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubramanian. The bench was headed byJustice Kaul.

Justice AK Patnaik who was the judge of Supreme Courtsubmitted a report that conspiracy behind the sexual harassment allegationscannot be "ruled-out," according to a report published in LiveLaw.

The report submitted by Patnaik also opines that theallegations against former CJI could have been leveled due to tough stancestaken by him during his tenure. References were cited where Intelligence Bureauinput had given input  that as JusticeGogoi drove the Assam-NRC process, many people were unhappy.

The benching after making observations from the report ofJustice Patnaik said, "the veracity of the allegations leveled by lawyerUtsav Singh Bains could not be verified completely due to the limited access ofrecords and other collaborative material."

Hence the bench closed the case by saying, "there isno requirement to keep the case going on."
