Amid the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the dust of misinformation is slowly and steadily settling. While at one place, Pakistanis continue to celebrate their so-called victory over India, the 'master of denial', Pakistan's PM, recently confessed that India carried out precision strikes that damaged multiple military sites, including Nur Khan Air Base. In the meantime, Congress Kerala and multiple social media users are sharing a write-up and a viral video with the claims that India's External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar informed Pakistan about Operation Sindoor in advance.
In the viral video, S Jaishankar can be heard saying, "Because even at the start of the operation, we had sent a message to Pakistan, saying we are striking at terrorist infrastructure; we are not striking at the military, so the military has an option of standing out and not interfering in this process. They chose not to take the good advice."
Kerala Congress shared the video and wrote, "Please tell us that this video is AI generated. Cannot believe that he is our Foreign Minister and said this. This is almost like demonetisation. People who had black money knew what was coming and rest of country was clueless. Masterstroke indeed!"
Truth behind S Jaishankar's comment on India informed Pakistan about Operation Sindoor in advance
Central Government's Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact-checked Kerala Congress' post that shared a video of Jaishankar saying that India informed Pakistan about Operation Sindoor in advance. Sharig the video, PIB wrote, "Social media posts quoting EAM @DrSJaishankar are implying that India gave advance information to Pakistan about #OperationSindoor..EAM is being misquoted, and he has not made this statement."
PIB also shared one more link that claimed that as per Jaishankar, India informed Pakistan about Operation Sindoor in advance. PIB fact-checked it and clarified, "The social media post falsely implies from External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar's statement that India informed Pakistan before the start of #OperationSindoor.. EAM is being misquoted, and he has not made this statement.. Remain vigilant and avoid falling for deceptive information."
Notably, PIB saying Jaishankar has been misquoted as a News Wire has published a write-up in which it claimed that Jaishankar made these remarks while talking to reporters outside Honduras Embassey. As a result, PIB is saying that Jaishankar is being misquoted and he never made this remark.
The news wire quoted Jaishankar further saying, "Once they got hit as badly as they did, on the morning of May 10, and all of you have seen the satellite pictures which bring out very graphically how much damage we did. By the way the satellite pictures also bring out how little damage they did (to India), these pictures will tell you what a hit they took. The same people who were not willing to stand down on 7th May are willing to talk and stand down the 10th of May; it is very clear who wanted the cessation of firing."
