FAKE NEWS ALERT: ADGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo appointed as head of Chief Vigilance Bureau in Punjab

Some news agencies has misinterpreted the orders and published that she has been appointed as the Chief Director of Vigilance Bureau replacing Ishwar Singh.

The Punjab government Friday reshuffled five IPS officers, in one of the first rejigs after the Aam Aadmi Party came to power in the state. According to the reports, 1988-batch IPS officer Prabodh Kumar, who was Special DGP (Investigation, Lokpal), has been appointed as Special DGP (Intelligence) against the vacant post.  Amardeep Singh, a 1994-batch IPS officer who was ADGP Intelligence, has been transferred as ADGP Traffic. IPS officer SS Srivastava of 1994-batch, who was ADGP Traffic, has been posted as ADGP Intelligence in place of Rai.



According to another order, ADGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo has been appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer of the Punjab Police. But the newspapers and websites have presumed that ADGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo has been appointed as head of the Chief Vigilance Bureau. The Chief Vigilance Officer is a part of the Internal wing of Punjab Police.

The orders state that she has been appointed as Chief Vigilance Officer in Punjab and replaced Ishwar Singh, from this position. Some newspapers and websites have misinterpreted the orders and published that she has been appointed as the Chief Director of Vigilance Bureau replacing Ishwar Singh. Both the positions were earlier held by IPS Ishwar Singh. He is still Chief Director of Vigilance Bureau.




The circular states that ADGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo has replaced Ishwar Singh, IPS, ADGP-cum-Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, SAS Nagar.
