FASTag was introduced by the National Highway Authority of India to make Toll collection at the plaza easy and convenient. Recently, the government announced its new program called, ‘One vehicle, One FASTag’, wherein only one FASTag can be issued per vehicle. In order to ensure success, the NHAI has appealed to the public to fill the KYC (Know Your Client) details. FASTags with incomplete KYC process, even with sufficient balance will be deactivated and blacklisted by January 31.

FASTag users are advised to immediately complete the KYC process and update to the latest FASTags to avoid any inconvenience at the Toll Plazas. The outdated FASTags will be deactivated.

A recent report by the NHAI says that multiple FASTags have been issued by customers for a single vehicle. NHAI has said that it has taken this initiative in response to this report. It was also found that FASTags were issued without the complete KYC process which is in violation of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules.
