Finallyafter much hue and cry over Dalit labour activist Nodeep Kaur’s arrest, thePunjab and Haryana High Court today granted her bail in the third case lodgeagainst her alleging offences under Section 307 (attempt to murder), Section146 (rioting), and Section 353 (assault to deter a public servant from dischargeof his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.
Reportedly,she was already granted bail in the two cases lodged against her allegingextortion. However, she was still in the jail in view of the third case lodgedagainst her, for which she has been granted bail today.
AsNodeep has finally got bail in all the three cases registered against her, shewill be now released from jail.
Theorder was pronounced this morning by Justice Avneesh Jinghan who had called forall of Kaur's medical reports earlier this week. In today's hearing, he soughtto examine whether the allegations of Kaur being tortured in custody were true,reads the information quoted in Bar and Bench.
Itfurther added that Bail was granted upon a prima facie observation that therewas nothing to substantiate the allegations of attempt to murder levelledagainst Kaur, among other reasons.
