In a firing incident in Punjab's Barnala, a man was fatally shot after a minor dispute between two arhatiyas. The incident took place at Amar Shaheed Seva Singh grain mandi near Thikriwalavillage.

According to sources, a minor disagreement over the unloading of paddy took place among the two arhatiyas, Satish Kumar Sanghera and Jagdish Kumar. Following the dispute, Satish Kumar grewenraged and attacked Jagdish with his licensed revolver.

Satish shot three times at Jagdish, critically injuring him. He fled the scene after the attack.

Meanwhile, Jagdish was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is said to be unstable.

Jagdish Kumar’s son Tony, while talking to media said that he and his father were standing at their area in Mandi when Satish came and started unloading his paddy on their land. Thefather-son duo showed displeasure over Satish’s action. “Soon the disagreement escalated and Satish started abusing my father. He, out of nowhere, took out his revolver and shot three times at my father and fledthe scene.”

“The bullets grazed Jagdish’s chest and hand. He is being treated in hospital”, said a police official.

As soon as the incident came to light, DSP City Lakhbir Singh Tiwana and Sadar Police Station Chief Jagjit Singh rushed to the scene and are inquiring about the matter. DSP Lakhbir Tiwanaand Police Station Chief Jagjit Singh said that statements of injured Jagdish Kumar and his son were being recorded.

Accused arhatiya Satish Kumar Sanghera has been arrested from his residence at Farwahi Bazar, Barnala. Police have ensured appropriate action against the accused.
