India is battling with the deadly second wave of coronavirus. The number of coronavirus patients is millions and the country is facing an oxygen shortage. Witnessing the situation some people are ready to risk their own lives to save others and Manzoor Ahmad is one of them.

48-year old Ahmad is an Asthma patient who has been on Oxygen support for the last three years. But, this pandemic could not stop him from delivering oxygen cylinders to hospitals and Covid19 patients in need.

Manzoor Ahmad drives a small truck to transfer cylinders from oxygen generating plants to hospitals. He carries oxygen cylinders with him in his truck 24/7.

“I know the importance of oxygen as I have been on oxygen support for the last three years after suffering an asthma attack. I’ve been driving ti truck and ensuring my family’s wellbeing. But today it is even more important to carry these cylinders,” Manzoor Ahmad said.

Manzoor himself is prone to infection as his lungs are already weak. But, this does not come in his way of serving humankind. He not only delivers these oxygen cylinders to the patient’s home but also gets them refilled at the oxygen facility.

“For the sake of Humanity, if I can deliver the Oxygen to anyone and save his life or he feels any relief, it’s a great feeling for me. I am an Asthma patient and I know how much this oxygen means to patients at a time when their saturation is low. This is my share of what I want to do for people,” he said.

He is the sole breadwinner of his family. He says he can not give up so early in life as he has a family to support. He continues his work to provide education to his children. He has three children, two sons, and a daughter.

"I can’t sit at home due to the ongoing pandemic. I work and earn for my family. They are dependent on me. My medicines are expensive, around 6-7 thousand rupees per month. The family also has expenses so I have to come out. But I want people to not lose hope. They should stay strong,” said Ahmad.

People like Manzoor Ahmad give hope to people and encourage them to help anyone they can. With the help of Covid warriors like Ahmad India will win the battle against the covid19 pandemic.
