F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ Gunther, actor James Michael Tyler, dies at 59 after battling prostate cancer

Hollywood actor James Michael Tyler died at his home in Los Angles. Many actors paid tribute to the late actor on social media sites.

James Michael Tyler, who played the role of coffee shop manager Gunther on the popular web series F.R.I.E.N.D.S, died in Los Angles after battling with prostate cancer that was diagnosed in the year 2018. He was 59-year-old. 


Representative Toni Benson, in a statement to US media, said, “The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh 'Friend'), from the hit series Friends, but Michael's loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband”. He further said, “Michael loved live music, cheering on his Clemson Tigers, and would often find himself in fun and unplanned adventures.”


The character appeared in around 150 episodes across all 10 seasons of the popular 1999 sitcom. 


Many Hollywood and Bollywood actors and fans paid tribute to the late actor. 


Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma paid tribute to the actor and posted his picture with a broken heart emoticon.

Lisa Kudrow, Phoebe in friends, paid tribute to her close friend and wrote, “James Michael Tyler, we will miss you. Thank you for being there for us all. #jamesmichealtyler”

Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel in Friends, dedicated an Instagram post to Tyler and shared a clip from the show featuring her and Tyler. While sharing the video she wrote, “Friends would not have been the same without you. Thank you for the laughter you brought to the show and to all of our lives. You will be so missed #JamesMichaelTyler”
