
Priyanka Chopra has tweeted expressing shock and grief over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the film set of Rust after Alec Baldwin shot a prop gun. The Director of the film Joel Souza was also injured in the incident.
The actress in her tweet has sent condolence to Haylna’s family.
Priyanka’s tweet read, “I’m so shook. I cannot imagine what everyone involved in this tragedy is feeling. There are no words. No one should die on a film set. Period. My heart goes out to Halyna Hutchins family and everyone who knew her.”
Officials of the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office issued a statement in which they said that the cinematographer Halyna and director Joel Souza were shot in an incident on Thursday on Rust film set in the desert on the southern outskirts of Santa Fe. The Sheriff’s department added, Hutchins was pronounced dead on arrival at the University of New Mexico Hospital after being airlifted. Hutchins after the incident was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque by a helicopter where she breathed her last. While director Joel Souza who had received wounds during the film shooting was taken to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe in an ambulance where he got emergency treatment for his injuries, following which he was released from the hospital.
The disastrous shooting at the set of “Rust” has left actor Alec Baldwin "heartbroken". In a series of tweets he said, he is "fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred."
Holywood cinematographer Halyna Hutchins had worked in films like Snowbound, Blindfire, Archenemy and The Mad Hatter.
Alec Baldwin is playing the lead in the upcoming American movie “Rust” and Assistant Director Dave Halls had given the gun to the actor during a rehearsal scene and had called out "cold gun” - it is a code used in the entertainment industry for a weapon having no live ammunition while performing the act. So far no charges have been filed against Alec Baldwin, said Santa Fe sheriff spokesman Juan Rios told news agency AFP.
