In a sad development for the music world, veteran American Rapper Coolio on Wednesday passed away at the age of 59. Rapper Coolio's death came as a shock for the entire music world as he was among hip-hop's biggest names of the 1990s who delivered hits like Gangsta's Paradise, Fantastic Voyage, and more. As soon as Rapper Coolio death was confirmed by his manager, condolences messages started pouring in for the 'Gangsta's Paradise' singer. Rapper Coolio's stature in Hollywood hip hop was such that he won Grammy Awards for the best rap solo performance for the track Gangsta's Paradise. As per a US media report which quoted his Manager Jarez Posey, Coolio passed away in Los Angeles where he was staying with one of his friends. Although Coolio's death reason was immediately not revealed, it is suspected that Coolio's death reason could be linked to cardiac arrest. TMZ report suggests that rapper Coolio whose legal name was Artis Leon Ivey was visiting a friend Wednesday afternoon and went to the bathroom. After staying inside for an extended period, the friend went inside and found him on the floor. The friend reportedly called EMTs, who arrived and pronounced the musician dead on the scene from what they suspected was cardiac arrest. It is pertinent to mention here that Collio's death reason has not been revealed by officials. However, the LAPD spokesperson has been quoted by US media saying that there is no suspicious angle in it and therefore, the case has been transferred to Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Rapper Coolio's illustrious career

Coolio became a global name in 1995 when he released Gangsta's Paradise for the soundtrack of the film Dangerous Minds. The rapper was awarded the best rap solo performance for the track at the following year’s Grammy Awards. Not only this, Coolio was nominated for five other Grammys during a career that began in the late-1980s.

For the unversed, Coolio was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania south of Pittsburgh. Coolio then moved to California where he attended community college. He also worked as a volunteer firefighter and in airport security before devoting himself full-time to the hip-hop scene.
