
TheDavinder Bambhia’s group on Tuesday, through a Facebook post, tookresponsibility for the murder of Former councillor Sukhmeet Singh aliasSukhmeet Deputy, who was gunned down in broad daylight on June 21 near WorkshopChowk of Gopal Nagar in Jalandhar.
Theyclaimed that their group member named Puneet had killed Sukhmeet Deputy inJalandhar over ‘personal rivalry’. They through their post claimed that Puneethad warned Deputy several times to mind his own business and not to workagainst him by colluding with anti-party.
“Sukhmeet Deputy never paid heed to our advice and kept on working against usand even he used to share secret information of our group with theanti-parties, therefore, we were left with no option but to kill him”, theysaid.
Theyeven left a warning for others and said “those who are working against us (Davinder Bambhia group) or are hand in gloves with our anti-parties, pleasetake care of yourselves”.
SukhmeetSingh Deputy (43) was released recently from jail after serving a life sentencein a kidnapping and extortion case that dated back to 2008. He was involved inkidnapping the son of a real estate developer of Jalandhar and had collected aransom of Rs 1 crore for his safe release. Police had cracked the case and hewas sentenced to life in prison in 2011, along with five others.
Bambiha,also known as sharpshooter, was shot dead in an encounter in Rampur Phool townby the Bathinda police. He was then facing over 15 cases including six ofmurder and others include attempt to murder and dacoity.
Meanwhile,his close associates are believed to be still running his group and areinvolved in various crimes in Punjab and outside the state.
