Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashmah’s Nattu Kaka aka Ghanashyam Nayak recently shared the news that he is battling cancer and underwent chemotherapy. The 77-year-old actor has now resumed shooting for the show.
On this Ghanashyam told an entertainment media website, “Currently, the chemotherapy session is going on. After almost four months I shot a special scene in Daman last week and believe me I had a lot of fun there. As per the storyline at present, Natu Kaka is in his village and from there he makes a call to Jethalal. I went to Gujarat for a day just to shoot this call sequence. Episode one will be telecast in two days. Right now I am waiting to start shooting in Mumbai.”
Ghanashyam Nayak is popular as Natu Kaka, who works at Jethalal’s Gada Electronics, in the daily comedy television show Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
He is an inspiration to all, during an interview he said that he is fine and wants to spread positivity with his work. He said, “I am eagerly waiting to get back to work. I go through chemotherapy and it happens once a month. The doctor has told me I can work and there is no problem. I just want to spread positivity and tell everyone that I am doing fine.”
Earlier, Ghanashyam had undergone surgery after eight cancerous knots were detected in his neck. His son shared that “He is fine and not facing any pain or problem but as a family, we do not want to take any risk therefore the chemotherapy sessions have started again.” The actor’s son said, “We just need to take papa to the hospital once a month for the sessions. I hope the spots are gone by the time we go for his test again next month.”
About the last wish, Ghanashyam Nayak said, “I want to die with makeup on and will work until my last breath.”
Ghanshyam Nayak started working at the age of 7. He started his career as a child artist in the 1960 film ‘Masoom’.

He has worked in more than 100 Gujarati and Hindi Films and more than 350 Hindi television serials have featured him. His most famous and loved role is Natu Kaka, he is a member of the show since it was premiered in July 2008. The main cast of the show includes Dilip Joshi as Jethalal Gada, Amit Bhatt as Champaklal Gada, Shailesh Lodha as Tarak Mehta, and Munmum Dutta as Babita.
