The government of India recently released a portal that will help users to determine if someone is using a SIM card allotted on their Adhaar Card without their knowledge or consent. The portal released by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is named TAFCOP which stands for Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection.
The portal was introduced by the telecom department in April "given an increase in cases of unauthorised use of one's details by others to take mobile SIM cards and misuse them for illicit or unlawful activities."
TAFCOP's website says, “The website has been developed to help subscribers check the number of mobile connections working in their name, and take necessary actions for regularising their additional mobile connections if any."
Users of the portal are provided with facilities that inform subscribers of the number of connections they have. It also sends them an SMS if they have more than nine multiple connections linked with their name. Consumers can access the portal to report phone numbers that they no longer use or are required to report. The numbers will subsequently be blocked or deactivated by the telecom service providers.
Users can check the status of their requests by signing in with their phone number and entering the "Ticket ID Ref No" into the "Request Status" box.

Log in with your number and report
Users must enter their mobile number and verify it with a one-time password on accessing the TAFCOP website. The webpage then displays a list of mobile numbers associated with their IDs.
Users can file a report on their website if they discover numbers registered on the portal that are not in their name. They don't have to do anything if they want to retain such numbers.
After consumers have submitted a report, the department will send them an SMS informing them about the number of active mobile connections in their names. Consumers will also be given ticket IDs, which they can use to track the action's progress.
Portal accessible in these states
Users in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are the only ones who can use the service for now. However, the service may have begun to expand to other circles as a few numbers can be traced in Maharashtra and Karnataka too.
