The Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Ministry in aninitiative to upgrade the Skill of the Youth has invited applications for theMahatma Gandhi National Fellowship from across the country. 

MGNF aims tostrengthen the district-level skill ecosystem for decentralized skilldevelopment governance. In the course of their training the fellows would be anasset and resource person for the District Skill Committee (DSC) to develop,manage and coordinate the skill programmes at district level.

Disclosing this here today the official spokesperson of the Punjabgovernment said that as part of SANKALP, the MSDE has launched the Phase-II ofMahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) programme with 9 IIMs namely IIMBangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Visakhapatnam,IIM-Udaipur, IIM Nagpur, IIM Ranchi and IIM-Jammu as Academic Partners.

The spokesperson further said that the selection of fellows willbe done by IIM Bangalore through a common ongoing admission process. The lastdate for receipt of applications online is 27th March 2021. MGNF is a two-yearacademic programme which combines classroom sessions at IIM with an intensivefield immersion at the district level.

The Fellows would acquire academic expertise and technicalcompetency in understanding the overall skill ecosystem and help the DistrictSkill Committee's (DSCs) to manage skill development planning at the districtlevel by formulating District Skill Development Plans (DSDPs). The interested candidates must have a minimum graduate degree froma recognized University and should be citizens of India in the 21-30 years ofage-group. Proficiency in the official language of State of fieldwork ismandatory. Fellows should not be employees of the Government of India. 

Theselected fellows will receive stipend of Rs. 50,000 per month in first year andRs. 60,000 per month in second year of their Fellowship as compensation. Uponcompletion of the programme, the Fellow will be awarded a Certificate by thehost IIM.
