On Saturday evening, an incident rocked the state of Punjab! A youth allegedly tried to desecrate the Holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib at the Golden Temple, Amritsar. The man jumped across the metal grill to enter the central enclosure of the sanctum sanctorum, picked up a diamond-encrusted sword to desecrate the holy book. “While the employees were taking him to the office, some of the other devotees present at the shrine beat him up so badly that he died before reaching the office,” said Parminder Singh Bhandal, deputy commissioner of police (law and order).

As the man’s actions were also telecasted on live television during the broadcast of evening prayers at the shrine, the word spread fast. The incident has triggered anguish and outrage in Sikh minds across the world, with Punjab leaders condemning the desecration of the holy scripture.

Both Hindu and Sikh sentiments have been attached with the Sri Harmandar Sahib and the holy shrine is worshiped by both religions.

Now, the people of the state and the prominent personalities have been demanding for probe into the matter. Many questions have been raised on the fact that there is some conspiracy behind this act. The conspiracy thing has emerged as the accused has not been identified and no electronic gadgets have been found with him.

Ironically, on the same day, BSF shot down drown near Punjab’s Ferozpur area. “The Chinese-made drone was detected and downed on Friday around 11.10 p.m. near the Wan border post in the Ferozepur sector,” the BSF mentioned in a tweet. The black colour flying object was shot at a distance of about 300 metres from the international border and 150 metres from the border fence, it added.

This act may be linked to another major incident in Punjab. Reportedly, on Sunday a crucial decision was to be made into the Punjab Drug Case by the newly appointed director-general of Punjab police Siddharth Chattopadhyaya. So, is there any link between this act and the case?
