Social media giant Twitter has been the talk of the town ever since Billionaire Elon Musk took over the company as the new boss. Elon Musk has been on mass firing spree ever since he has taken over the company. However, the table has turned now, as Elon Musk was forced to shut down his newly acquired Twitter office after hundreds of engineers and employees resigned together over his new policy. Now, the question arises, why Twitter office is shut down and what Elon Musk wanted from his social media employees?

As per reports, Twitter chief Elon Musk had proposed long working hours at high intensity via email to his employees. For the unversed, reports suggest that Elon Musk has put a stop to working from home, fired almost 50 percent of the staff and sacked top executives. In a recent meeting, Elon Musk said that bankruptcy was a possibility if Twitter doesn’t start generating more cash. Warning them of the 'difficult times ahead', Elon Musk also announced some changes that are forthcoming for Twitter employees – no work from home, no free food and 80-hour work weeks. As the deadline for the long intensity work hours approached nears some employees refused to sign the pledge to work form sent by Musk and decided to leave with severance pay.

Notably, Elon Musk proposed in the letter that the employees who refuse to abide by the company’s new rules can leave with severance pay. US media reported outlined Musk's email to Twitter employee titled, "Ä fork in the road". In the email, Musk ordered the employees to sign an online form by 3:30 AM IST today committing to "long hours at high intensity." "If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below," the email read.

Soon after the employees decided to leave with severance pay, Twitter sent an email saying that it would shut offices temporarily and disable badge access until November 21. Another media outlet reported, Elon Musk did not expect such reactions from the employees on his proposal. As the Twitter office remains shut Musk has been meeting some top executives convincing them to stay.
