Golden Temple Sacrilege Bid: Hang the culprits in public, says Punjab Congress Chief NS Sidhu

“Wherever sacrilege takes place, be it of Quran Sharif or Bhagavad Gita or Guru Granth Sahib, they (guilty) should be hanged in public,” said Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

On Sunday, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Punjab Congress Chief, condemned the alleged sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib on Saturday evening. Punjab Congress Chief said that “Conspiracy going on to disrupt Punjab's peace”. 

During the election rally in Malerkotla district, Mr Sidhu said that even today conspiracies have been hatched to destroy the peace and harmony of Punjab. He further said that sacrilege with any holy book, either Quran Sharif or Bhagavad Gita or Guru Granth Sahib, the guilty must be hanged in public. 

“Conspiracy going on to disrupt Punjab's peace. Wherever sacrilege takes place, be it of Quran Sharif or Bhagavad Gita or Guru Granth Sahib, they (guilty) should be hanged in public & given biggest Constitutional punishment...” Congress Chief was quoted saying.

On Saturday, two men were killed in Amritsar and Kapurthala, respectively, for allegedly attempting to sacrilege Sri Guru Granth Sahib. 

 What was the matter?

On Saturday evening, an incident rocked the state of Punjab! A youth allegedly tried to desecrate the Holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib at the Golden Temple, Amritsar. The man jumped across the metal grill to enter the central enclosure of the sanctum sanctorum, picked up a diamond-encrusted sword to desecrate the holy book.

Before the police could take the accused youth into custody, the mob thrashed him to death.
