"Healthy Literature" Letter leaves US School goers' parents in shock

In an outrageous letter the school was trying to promote "healthy body" image using bodywear

Southaven Middle School in the state of Mississippi landed in hot water after it sent a letter offering parents the option to consent to their daughters receiving "healthy literature" and shapewear items.

The letter in the talks reads--"We, the counselors of Southaven Middle School, would like to have an opportunity to offer some healthy literature to your daughter on maintaining a positive body image. We are also providing girls with shapewear, bras, and other health products if applicable,”

The purpose of wearing a shapewear is to contour the body into the conventional standards of beauty.

The letter titled “Why Do Girls Suffer from Body Image?” has left many people in shock

An mother on Facebook, Ashley Wells Huen, said she was “beyond pissed” at the school authorities’ ignorance and lack of sensitivity.


She went on to say that-- “So you begin this masterpiece detailing how damaging a negative body image is for girls, how the stress of conforming to an impossible perceived image can adversely affect their mental health, and then OFFER TO GIVE THEM SPANX [an underwear/shapewear brand] SO THEY CAN BETTER FIT THE PERCEIVED IMAGE?"
