When it comes to Sushant Singh Rajput, it appears that Bollywood is extremely quiet. On the eve of his first death anniversary, several of his peers, including actor Pankaj Tripathi, remembered the icon fondly.

Pankaj Tripathi, an actor, told,  “I remember we did one shoot together with Sushant Singh Rajput in the film ‘Drive’. It was just a one-day shoot as far as I remember and that is the only time I met SSR.”

Tripathi remembers of his first and only interaction with SSR, “On the bridge, there was an action sequence that we did together. We didn't interact much since we were too preoccupied with our shoot, but I remember that during that shoot we sat together for 40 minutes and were generally talking with each other, and from our short meeting, I realised that he was a very smart person.

“I don't watch films much,” Tripathi says of SSR's craft. But, when shooting for a film in Lucknow, I saw Sushant's performances in "Dhoni," and that was my day off. On the screen, you can definitely see his hard work and skill.”

I could see he reads a lot and he knows a lot about science. What I discovered was that he was a very genuine and hardworking actor.”

On June 14, 2020, Sushant Sigh Rajput found dead in his Mumbai apartment.

Many viral videos and B'wood reports framed this entire picture of an ‘outsider' caught in a web constructed by insiders. One footage featured Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor teasing Sushant on stage with some caustic attempts at wit, leaving the young actor humiliated and embarrassed while a gallery of prominent faces laughed their hearts out.

SRK, who was well-known for being an outsider, openly mocked SSR on stage. Salman Khan was said to have shouted at Sushant for "misbehaving" with his mentee Sooraj Pancholi. Later, he was blamed for questions like "Who is Sushant?" and "Why am I making a film with him?”

In a recent interview , actor Amit Sadh, who co-starred with SSR in the film "Kai Po Che," said, "I will always cherish the memories of "Kai Po Che," as it holds a special place in my heart, but now, whenever I look back and think about it, there will be a sadness about it because, for me, it is incomplete without Sushant Singh Rajput.”

As the film's four-year shoot came to a close, Kriti Sanon revealed a behind-the-scenes video with Sushant from the set of "Raabta." The actress from 'Bhediya' wrote, “Raabta was one of my best and most memorable experiences and it will ALWAYS remain extremely close to my heart. Little did I know that it would be our first and last.”See video here.

Rahul Vaidya remembered the ‘Chhhichhore' actor. He expressed on Twitter, writing, “Bohot dinon se kuch kehna chahata tha. Sushant bhai Amar Raho! Miss you always #SushanthSinghRajput”.

After SSR's death last year, Karan Johar, the arch second-gen Bollywood insider, was at the center of the nepotism discussion. Others crowd around him, their casual jabs seeming ominous in retrospect. When asked to rank male actors and given a menu of options, Alia Bhatt answered, "Sushant Singh Rajput, who?" on his "Koffee With Karan" show. That came with a flashback, just like any other Hindi film.
