High Court asked for a backup plan if electricity workers go on strike again; Chandigarh DC presented the affidavit in court
DC VP Singh on Thursday duringthe hearing in Punjab and Haryana High Court submitted the affidavit. The DCsaid that a police investigation is going on regarding the power supplyincident. The police have already obtained the CDRs of mobile phones used byunion leaders. They have also sent the DVRs for the forensic examinationscollected from the sub-stations.
Thecourt asked the administration regarding their backup plans if the employees goagain on strike. The bench asked for a response from the administration. Theunion’s undertaking is also on record. On the matter, the union said the unionhas nothing to do with the incident related to the damage of electricity.
In thehearing, the High Court also reprimanded the lawyer of the Union. Court toldthe Union, they are blackmailing the administration by going on strike. TheHigh Court also asked for assurance from the Union that they will not go on astrike again.
The DCtold the court that the strike affected the city’s electricity and damage tothe power system. The workers went on strike even though the matter wassub-judice in the court.
